Real Health Lecture Series - Navigating the health system to live well with dementia

Hosted by Queensland University of Technology

QUT's Real Health Lecture Series unpacks the latest issues affecting the health and wellbeing of our communities.

An estimated 411,000 Australians are living with dementia and that number is expected to double by 2058. Receiving a diagnosis of dementia is life changing, but it's only the beginning of the journey.

Our expert panel will explore the challenges individuals and families face navigating the healthcare system both before and after a diagnosis of dementia. Hear first-hand experiences of people living with dementia and insights from clinical experts and researchers as they discuss current challenges and initiatives to support people living with dementia to navigate the health care system more effectively.

Panellists:

  • Patrick Dare, Dementia Advocate
  • Sophie Ware, Dementia Advocate
  • Adjunct Professor Alison Mudge, Centre for Health Services Research, UQ
  • Dr Fred Graham, Clinical Nurse Consultant, Delirium, Metro South Hospital and Health Service
  • Associate Professor Amanda Fox, School of Nursing QUT

Moderated by Associate Professor Margaret MacAndrew, School of Nursing QUT, and Director, DTA at QUT
