Working with survivors of childhood trauma

This is a half-day workshop that is delivered online and is facilitated among a small group of mental health practitioners. This workshop is aimed at providing an opportunity to connect, discuss treatment options for supporting childhood trauma survivors and offer practical solutions for responding to childhood trauma when it presents in a clinical setting. An experienced trauma-informed psychotherapist and PACFA accredited supervisor will guide you through thought evoking case studies and intervention examples that you can use to assist your development as a trauma-informed clinician, with specific expertise in childhood adverse experiences.

Learning objectives:

  • develop a practical understanding of childhood trauma and how it presents in the consulting room
  • identify the key approaches to address and treat childhood trauma that can bring immediate relief to mental distress and improve therapy outcomes
  • learn how you can build your confidence in screening for childhood trauma, and supporting the client to address it and work with it in short and long-term therapy setting
  • discover practical tools to address resistance, transference and complex feelings associated with childhood trauma therapeutic work
  • participate in interactive experiences to connect with like-minded practitioners to discuss own approaches and support each other in the development of new knowledge.
