Department of Education - Redcliffe State High School - General practitioner

Applications close: 25 Oct, 2024

The Department of Education (the Department) is seeking a general practitioner (GP) to provide a service 1 day per week, to students within the school-based clinic at Redcliffe State High School as part of the General Practitioners in State Schools Program (GPs in Schools). Contract and start date negotiable to December 2027.

The GPs in Schools Program is provided to 50 state secondary schools.

GPs working in the GPs in Schools Program will:

  • provide a service to students within the school-based clinic one day per week during school terms
  • have a strong interest in children and adolescent health
  • be required to bulk-bill student appointments through Medicare as students and their families will not bear any consultation costs for students to access the service
  • provide the majority of services that would be typically accessed at a community-based health care clinic.

These include:

  • physical assessments
  • prescribing medications
  • health screening
  • direct referral of students to other medical specialists and allied healthcare professionals
  • mental health assessment and plans
  • administering vaccinations
  • ordering diagnostic tests
  • interpreting test results.

The Department will provide financial support to the successful GP, including $1,250 per day to assist with the operation of the school-based clinic. Please note, GPs provide services in the GPs in Schools Program as external providers and are not employed by the Department.

Closing date: Friday 25 October 2024
