The purpose of this research project
This research project seeks to examine the factors associated with the introduction and integration of a palliative care needs assessment screening protocol into the clinical practice of general practitioners. You will be given a copy of this Participant Information and Consent Form to keep.
What will I be asked to do?
You will be invited to take part in a semi-structured interview lasting approximately 40 to 60 minutes. Depending on your preference, the interview will be conducted via a video conferencing platform such as Zoom or via phone. All the information we collect from you is confidential. If you are not comfortable answering any question/s during the interview, you can decline to answer.
Will I be reimbursed for my time?
If you decide to participate, you will receive an $80 honorarium in recognition of your time and contribution to the research
Possible benefits of participation
Your participation will help enhance the quality of palliative care by supporting the early identification of palliative care needs within primary care settings and addressing barriers to accessing both generalist and specialist palliative services.
Possible risks of participation
This research project involves minimal risk to participants. The interview questions are not expected to cause distress, and you may decline to answer any question or withdraw from the study at any time without consequence.
Can I withdraw from the study?
Participation in this research project is voluntary. You may choose not to participate or withdraw at any time without any explanation. If withdrawn, your data will not be used in the research. Your decision whether you take part, or not to take part, or to take part and then withdraw, will not affect your relationship with the Palliative Care Outcomes Collaboration (PCOC).
Does this study have ethical approval?
This research project has been reviewed and approved (Approval No.: 2024/ETH02262: 2025UMB0803).
