Metro North Health Forum 2024

Brisbane North PHN and Metro North Health recently brought stakeholders together for the eighth annual Metro North Health Forum. The forum provided the ideal setting for enhanced engagement, networking and the opportunity to collaboratively commit to this year’s theme: Building Momentum.

Keynote speaker

Dr Stephen Duckett is an Honorary Enterprise Professor in the School of Population and Global Health and in the Department of General Practice and Primary Care at the University of Melbourne. He has held top health sector leadership positions in Australia and Canada and literally wrote the book on the Australian health care system (Oxford University Press, 6e, 2022). An economist, he is a Fellow of the Academy of the Social Sciences in Australia, and of the Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences. He was made a Member of the Order of Australia in January 2023 for significant service to public health policy and management, and to tertiary education.

GP Breakfast Briefing

As we emerge from the COVID period, the general practice workforce has never been under more pressure. At this year’s GP Breakfast, there was a specific focus on practitioner wellness and its importance in general practices continuing to provide comprehensive care for their communities.

The GP Breakfast keynote speakers were Dr Aaron Chambers, GP Liaision Officer at Children's Health Queensland and Dr Matt Young, General Practitioner and advocate for the Medical Culture Club, a network promoting connectedness amongst clinicians.
