More than 3,500 local LGBTIQA+ community members, allies, charities and support services came together this June for the inaugural Moreton Bay Pridefest – leaving a trail of glitter in their wake.

It was with great pride as the event charity partners that more than 40 staff volunteers and Youth Reference Group members from our Caboolture and Redcliffe headspace Centres welcomed, festooned and photographed attendees as they arrived for this historic – and colourful – occasion.

One in three young people in Moreton Bay who access headspace services are from the LGBTIQA+ community. As charity partners, headspace Caboolture, headspace Strathpine and headspace Redcliffe received a $20,000 donation from ticket sales that will be put to use working to shift this statistic and supporting these folks across the region.

“We are committed to improving the lives and supporting young people who identify and what better way than with a festival! These funds are vital to our services and will go directly into the local community supporting programs, training and development and other initiatives to support young people in the Moreton Bay Region.”

Nick Martin, headspace Operations Manager

A stellar line-up of celebrities and entertainment, including Courtney Act, Thelma Plum, Havana Brown and Sneaky Sound System, as well as an overwhelming atmosphere of celebration and support set the event in good stead to become one of Queensland’s premier pride events.

“We want everyone to know Moreton Bay is a vibrant and inclusive community where we embrace all ages, faiths, sexuality, abilities, and ethnicities.”
