Clinics to boost coverage and protect our most vulnerable communities

Earlier this month Brisbane North PHN coordinated the first two in a series of three community vaccine clinics to be held this April and May across Kilcoy, Woodford and Caboolture.

Together with QuIHN, the PHN has for the past two years looked to further support vulnerable communities by providing COVID-19 booster and influenza vaccinations free of charge to local residents in Kilcoy and Woodford.

Located in the Somerset Regional Council catchment, the Kilcoy region is the PHN's farthest point of service north of Brisbane (except for Norfolk Island). Woodford lies further west in the Moreton Bay Council catchment. Both have been identified by Queensland Health as areas of need for improved COVID-19 and influenza vaccine coverage.

Vaccine coverage rates remain low in all of the suburbs our clinics will target. This year our clinics will also reach a third region in Caboolture.

80 patients attended the April 6 clinic at the Kilcoy Visitor Information Centre, with 112 vaccines administered to community members who were offered a $5 voucher by locally owned and operated Coff and Co Bakery post-vaccination. We are pleased to support local businesses in the provision our community clinics.

107 patients attended the 13 April clinic at Woodford Memorial Hall, with 157 (combination) vaccines administered. 100 patients also received a $5 voucher for locally owned and operated café Sticks and Stones.

Thank you to QI&D Engagement Officer, Kimberley Charnock, for her efforts in coordinating this program, and members of our Primary Care team who provided on the day support. The PHN thanks QuIHN for their continued partnership in administering our community vaccine rollout.

We look forward to extending these clinics for the 2025 flu season.
