Partnering for Innovation at the 2025 Metro North Health Forum
08 May 2025In the spirit of this year’s theme, Partnering for Innovation, industry stakeholders from across North Brisbane and Moreton Bay gathered for the annual GP Breakfast and Metro North Health Forum on Wednesday at Herston.
A joint initiative of Brisbane North PHN and Metro North Health, the Forum in its ninth iteration brought health professionals together for an exciting showcase of local healthcare partnerships that are improving health outcomes for people across our shared region.
GP Breakfast attendees were welcomed by Brisbane North PHN Board Chair Dr Jennifer Schafer before a thought-provoking presentation by Dr Rachel Hannam reinforced the importance of self-care, practitioner wellness and the importance of general practices continuing to provide comprehensive care for their communities.
Forum keynote speakers Dr Dinesh Palipana OAM and Karina Smith shared powerful insights on workflow innovation and organisational transformation, while a series of breakout sessions provided guests the opportunity to learn more about new, innovative and collaborative PHN and Metro North Health models of care, including:
- the implementation of Compassionate Villages as an extension of the successful North Brisbane Safe Spaces program
- the Health Alliance’s Specialist Pain Assistance Network (SPAN) community-based persistent pain program
- the ASPIRE Medication Safety Trial, which has utilised a systems and community-based approach to Home Medicines Reviews
- Metro North Disability and Coordination Services.
Attendees welcomed the opportunity to think outside of the box to create innovative solutions, the networking opportunities and learning more about new services available in the North Brisbane and Moreton Bay region.
