RSV prevention webinar

To update and educate primary care healthcare professionals on the availability and administration of a new NIP-listed maternal RSV vaccine to protect newborn babies from RSV infection.

Learning outcomes:

  1. understanding the burden of RSV in babies and young infants and the importance of prevention strategies for this population
  2. understand the role of maternal immunisation in helping prevent RSV from birth
  3. apply the latest Australian Immunisation Handbook recommendations to implement the new RSV vaccine alongside other vaccines for pregnant women
  4. highlight additional immunisation options for young infants at high risk of developing lower tract respiratory infection with/without having had maternal RSV vaccination
  5. enhance patient consultation skills for discussing maternal vaccination, including the RSV vaccine, with pregnant women.
