The draft Ageing Well in 2041: Vision and Roadmap has been released for public consultation, setting out a long-term vision to support older people to live healthy, connected and fulfilling lives as the region's population ages.

The consultation, led through the Health Alliance, aims to gather community feedback to ensure the final vision reflects the needs, aspirations and priorities of older people, their families and the organisations that support them. The vision recognises that ageing well requires a coordinated effort across health, community, government and social sectors.

A Shared Vision for 2041

The draft vision outlines a future where older people can access care closer to home, benefit from improved health literacy and early intervention, enjoy a greater quality of life, experience seamless care coordination and access technology-enabled services and supports.

Five key themes underpin the vision:

  1. Care closer to home
  2. Health literacy and early intervention
  3. Quality of life
  4. Connected shared care systems
  5. Technology-assisted quality services and supports

The vision is guided by principles of equity, dignity, choice and control, active ageing, belonging, collaboration and sustainability.

Why Community Input Matters

Our region is experiencing significant demographic change, with more people living longer and presenting with increasingly complex health and social needs. The draft vision seeks to address these challenges by redesigning systems and services to better meet future demand.

Community feedback will help determine whether the proposed vision is focused on the right priorities. It will also help to develop the roadmap to identify the actions and partnerships needed to achieve meaningful change over the coming decades.

Have Your Say

Community members can review the draft vision and roadmap and provide feedback through the consultation process. Feedback is sought on two key questions:

  • Are we focused on the right future for ageing well?
  • What actions and partnerships are needed to get there?

The consultation materials are available here and written submissions are welcome. The consultation period has been extended and now closes on 20 September 2026.
