Youth mental health services

Brisbane North PHN funds youth mental health services that provide psychological intervention to children, young adults and their families.

Brisbane MIND 2 WEB RGB

Children under the age of 12 who have—or are at risk of developing—emotional, behavioural or mental health conditions can access Brisbane MIND4KiDs services.

Young people aged 12–25 with mild to moderate mental illness can access services via five headspace centres in Caboolture, Nundah, Redcliffe, Strathpine and Indooroopilly.

These centres provide a range of support services, including one-to-one counselling, supportive family psycho-education and support groups for young people.

Guiding Lived Experience Engagement

The Guiding Lived Experience Engagement (GLEE) project is an initiative by the Brisbane North PHN Regional Youth Advisory Group (RYAG). The overall aim of the GLEE project was to monitor and improve the lived experience engagement of young people at mental health services in the Brisbane North PHN region.

The project was led by the RYAG and involved extensive community consultation with a variety of services and young people which led to the development of a checklist that services can use to gauge their current level of lived experience engagement. An accompanying guide was also created that provides practical support on how to improve lived experience engagement if it does not meet the guidelines recommended in the checklist.

Three resources have been developed by the RYAG and are available to download.
