Industry welcomes return of Brisbane North PHN Aged Care Forum
10 September 2024Brisbane North PHN’s Aged Care Forum returned this August, providing aged care professionals and peers from across the region an opportunity to reconnect and engage with the latest industry insights.
The Aged Care Forum is an annual stand-out event, well known and regarded for an expert line-up of keynotes, speakers and presentations that impart a wealth of valuable information to support our aged care sector and its workforce.
Each year presenters and topics are selected based on feedback from previous iterations, as well as current queries and topical concerns from within the sector. This year’s program featured:
- The Office of the Public Guardian
- Hoarding and Squalor – Social Work Clinical Lead | Mater at Home
- Sustaining Tenancies – Communify
- Oral Health – Leonie Short, Seniors Dental Care Australia
- Some New Thinking about Your Self-Care – Coached by Sue
- General Practice in Aged Care Incentive update – Brisbane North PHN.
“Great forum – very informative topics.”
With over 200 registrations from across community, residential aged care and other services related to the aged care sector, networking and building connections between a diverse group of professionals, all working across the same region, was once again a priority focus and highlight of the event.
Partners Communify, Queensland Positive People, Footprints, Micah Projects, the Queensland Council for LGBTI Health and World Wellness Group hosted care finder stalls.
“Great to talk to others in industry during the breaks.”
Feedback from attendees, all who expressed high levels of satisfaction, indicated that the event was a resounding success and that overwhelmingly a majority would share insights from the day with their colleagues and peers.
Half of the attendees reported that they would follow up with a new contact or opportunity, while 55 percent gained knowledge of additional services they plan to refer to clients.
“Thank you for hosting the event. This type of event, [and] to take time to learn and connect to others in the district, is vital to our aged care community services.”
The PHN are committed to seeking and using attendee insights to improve future education events and inform further professional development opportunities. Several ideas for future aged care forums were received and will be considered ahead of the 2025 event.
