Learning, connection and collaboration at the Brisbane North Aged Care Forum
04 November 2025Healthcare professionals across the aged care sector came together on Wednesday 15 October for the Brisbane North Aged Care Forum at Kedron–Wavell.
This quarter’s event focused on two important themes: dementia and change navigation.
‘Our quarterly aged care forums are designed for healthcare professionals working in community care, residential care, and acute care,’ explained Carol Hope, Manager of Brisbane North PHN’s Healthy Ageing team.
‘We know the aged care system can be complex and difficult to navigate. By focusing on change navigation, we help attendees provide the most tailored and relevant advice possible to the community.’
With dementia cases in Brisbane expected to double over the next 30 years –from 16,941 in 2024 to 34,946 in 2054 – timely information is critical.
‘Providing up-to-date information about dementia ensures that aged care providers know how to reduce risk and support people living with the condition,’ Carol said.
The forum drew 132 attendees and featured 11 expert speakers. Almost all participants (98 per cent) said they would recommend the event to colleagues.
One participant said they “learnt new skills and met people who introduced [them] to new skills”.
Another delegate commented: “Today’s forum was great both in the presentation, speakers and the networking – everyone was engaging so well with all aspects of this event!”
Delegates also enjoyed a networking brunch and exhibition showcasing local support programs.
Brisbane North Aged Care Forums are free quarterly events that have educated the sector for nine years.
The next forum will be held on Thursday 19 February 2026. Stay tuned for details.
