Local insight sought to inform the future of our GP workforce

29 April 2024

Last week the local Brisbane North PHN General Practice Workforce Planning and Prioritisation (GP WPP) team held a breakfast at Victoria Park in advance of developing the third iteration of the Queensland Workforce Needs and Training Capacity Report.

Program Lead Paul Wallwork facilitated the event on behalf of our wider GP WPP team to seek valuable insights into the initial assessments, groupings and corresponding recommendations for GP Catchments across the North Brisbane and Moreton Bay Region delivered in the first project phases.

The program seeks to integrate data, harness local knowledge and expertise, and to test these recommendations in the GP Catchments in greatest need of GP services across the state.

Stakeholder engagement and consultation is a critical element to the GP WPP program's implementation, enabling us to capture local nuance and insights to build on these current findings.

This workshop convened GPs, practice managers and business owners to give further opportunity to provide feedback on their local community needs for incorporation into the next report.

Should you wish to discuss the workforce needs and training capacity of your GP Catchment, please reach out to Paul via email at Paul.Wallwork@brisbanenorthphn.org.au to set up a meeting.
