Networking event supports general practice teams with accreditation and AI

17 August 2026

Accreditation readiness and the use of artificial intelligence (AI) are becoming increasingly important topics for general practice teams.

To support local practices to stay informed and connected, Brisbane North PHN hosted a networking meeting recently on the RACGP 6th Edition Accreditation Standards and AI in general practice. The event brought together general practice staff from across the North Brisbane and Moreton Bay region for a morning of learning, discussion and connection.

It provided an opportunity for attendees to hear practical updates, ask questions and connect with peers who are working through similar changes in primary care.

The first session, RACGP 6th Edition Accreditation, focused on accreditation readiness and what practices may need to consider as they prepare for the upcoming RACGP 6th Edition Standards.

The second session, AI in General Practice, explored the use of artificial intelligence in general practice, including opportunities, risks and emerging considerations for practice teams.

Feedback from attendees was very positive. All survey respondents agreed or strongly agreed that the information presented in both sessions was relevant to them.

Attendees reported that the event improved their knowledge across several areas, including accreditation expectations, upcoming changes to the RACGP standards, AI consent, AI use in general practice, 1800 Medicare, practice systems and sustainability.

Written feedback also highlighted the value of bringing practices together in person. Several attendees described the event as very informative and useful. One respondent noted, ‘the speakers were great and informative’ and that it was valuable to meet other practice managers.

The feedback also showed strong interest in future education and networking opportunities. Attendees identified several areas they would like to learn more about, including practical examples for accreditation readiness, AI legalities and consent, risk mitigation, digital health, staff workflows, HR, immunisation updates and peer-to-peer learning.

Brisbane North PHN will use this feedback to help shape future education and networking opportunities for general practice teams across the region. Practices can keep an eye on Brisbane North PHN updates, the PHN’s events calendar and the Practice Support website for future training and networking opportunities.
