Palliative care evening for primary care 2025

Hosted by Brisbane North PHN

Brisbane North PHN is pleased to invite all primary care professionals to join us for an evening of palliative care education and networking.

Returning for its third year, this event aims to increase the primary care workforce awareness of available palliative care services and supports.

Keynote Presenter: Emeritus Professor Geoff Mitchell

Partner at Limestone Medical Centre (Ipswich), and palliative care and general practice researcher and mentor at The University of Queensland School of Medicine, Professor Mitchell will contend the role of GPs in palliative care, reflect on his 40-year career, and share key lessons.

The event features presentations over dinner, networking, and an exhibition of key services and supports.

In addition to the keynote speaker, the program also includes:

  • Information on new Metro North Bereavement service
  • Paediatric palliative care- what GPs need to know
  • Latest updates on palliative care support services
  • Q&A discussion panel.

Primary care teams are fundamental to the delivery of at-home palliative care. In the busy practice environment, it is hard to stay abreast of all the new services and supports available for community based palliative care. This event aims to provide primary care professionals an education and networking opportunity to build awareness and strengthen practice.

RACGP ID: 1111127

This event is supported by funding from the Australian Government Department of Health under the Greater Choice for At Home Palliative Care measure.
