Gasworks Medical Practice - Medical receptionist

Applications close: 01 Sept, 2025

Are you an experienced medical receptionist ready to step up? Or a practice manager seeking a fresh opportunity in a warm, supportive environment?

Gasworks Medical Practice is looking for a full-time supervisor/senior medical receptionist to lead our front-desk team for an initial six month period — with the opportunity to step up and cover our practice manager during an eight to twelve month maternity leave.

This is a unique opportunity for someone who thrives in the fast pace of front-desk healthcare while stepping into a hands-on leadership role within a well-established, inclusive medical practice. You’ll play a key part in supporting the team and ensuring smooth, high-quality care for our patients.

We’re a friendly and inclusive practice of doctors, nurses, and admin professionals committed to delivering excellent patient care. If you're confident, compassionate, and ready to take the next step in your career, we’d love to hear from you.

What we offer:

  • a leadership opportunity with support and mentorship
  • a collaborative, respectful, and patient-focused work culture
  • immediate start preferred – but we’re happy to wait for the right person

You'll thrive in this role if you:

  • bring a warm, professional, and empathetic presence to every interaction
  • are proactive, solutions-focused, and calm under pressure
  • enjoy contributing to a team where everyone feels valued and respected

What you’ll bring:

  • minimum three years’ experience in a medical receptionist or similar role
  • strong communication and customer service skills
  • excellent organisational and multitasking abilities
  • confidence with decision-making and prioritisation
  • ceadership experience or a strong desire to learn and grow into a leadership role
  • a commitment to patient confidentiality and professional conduct

Bonus points

  • previous team leadership or management experience in a medical practice setting
  • knowledge of Best Practice software
  • well-developed understanding of Medicare, DVA, WorkCover, and private billing
  • CPR certificate
  • experience triaging patients
  • familiarity working with diverse communities such as adolescents, aged care, LGBTQ+, migrants/refugees, Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander patients
  • basic proficiency with MS Word and Excel

If you're ready to take the next step in your career and become a valued leader in a kind, caring, and supportive practice, we’d love to hear from you!
