Brisbane North PHN is pleased to announce a new suicide aftercare service will be operating in the inner city region from July 2021.
The Way Back Support Service (a Beyond Blue initiative) provides up to three months support for people aged 15 years and over who have made a suicide attempt or have experienced a suicide related crisis. Clients work with a non-clinical Support Coordinator over this time to build hope and to link in with community services that will meet their specific needs.
Referrals into the service will only be accepted from the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital Emergency Department and from specific community based organisations who care for members of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community and the LGBTIQ+ community.
Communify will be funded to deliver the service, in conjunction with the Institute for Urban Indigenous Health and Brisbane Youth Service. The service will operate for two years from July 2021 to June 2023.

We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians within our region: the Jagera, Turrbal, Gubbi Gubbi, Waka Waka and the Ningy Ningy peoples of where we meet, work and learn. Brisbane North PHN is committed to reconciliation. Our vision for reconciliation is where the stories of our First Nations’ people are heard and shared, and networks are formed.
