New modelling released by the University of Sydney’s Brain and Mind Centre has shown that without significant additional investment, Australia’s suicide rate could increase by 25 to 50 per cent per year as the mental health, social and economic impacts from COVID-19 are felt across the country.
The website reasonstostay.com.au was developed for people who are at risk of a suicidal crisis and those bereaved by suicide, along with family and friends who care for them and provides information and links to suicide prevention and support services in the Brisbane North region. Visitors to the website can also access telephone crisis information lines and links to reputable websites for further reading and support.

We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians within our region: the Jagera, Turrbal, Gubbi Gubbi, Waka Waka and the Ningy Ningy peoples of where we meet, work and learn. Brisbane North PHN is committed to reconciliation. Our vision for reconciliation is where the stories of our First Nations’ people are heard and shared, and networks are formed.
