Research study on antimicrobial stewardship practices in residential aged care homes
Faculty of Health Science and Medicine, Bond University
We are seeking to connect with Residential Aged Care Facility Managers, Clinical Managers, and other relevant staff who may be willing to assist in sharing a research opportunity within their facility.
This ethics-approved study, conducted through Bond University, aims to understand staff perspectives and everyday care processes involved in managing residents with suspected urinary tract infections (UTIs) in residential aged care homes.
The research focuses on learning from the experiences of those involved in care to inform future improvements in antimicrobial stewardship and support quality care for elder residents.
- participation would involve up to 5 staff members from the same facility, where possible, each taking part in a 45-minute interview
- interviews are flexible and can be conducted online or in person
- participants may include nurses, care staff, a GP or nurse practitioner, a facility or care manager, and a pharmacist, where available
- each participant will receive a $50 reimbursement to cover reasonable expenses.
This research is not intended to evaluate individual performance or audit facilities. Rather, it aims to learn from the perspectives and experiences of staff involved in everyday practice, and to contribute to research that may support future improvements in care for elder residents.
If your facility may be interested in supporting this research, please contact: sauravi.chand@student.bond.edu.au Dr Cindy Jones cjones@bond.edu.au.
We would greatly appreciate your support.
