Primary Care Nurses and Chronic Pain in Australia

University of Southern Queensland

Chronic pain affects approximately one in five Australians and is commonly managed within primary care settings. Nurses play a vital role in supporting people living with chronic pain; however, little is currently known about their preparedness, challenges, and educational needs in this area. The findings from this study will help inform future workforce development initiatives and support strategies for primary care nurses. This research is funded by Pain Nurses Australia and has received ethical approval from the University of Southern Queensland Human Research Ethics Committee (ETH2026-0136). The survey will take about 10 minutes to complete. Participants will also have the opportunity to enter a prize draw to win one of five $20 gift vouchers as a token of appreciation for their time. If possible, could I please ask General Practitioners and Primary Care Nurses to share this survey with your colleagues. Your support will provide evidence for future pain management education. On behalf of the research team, thank you very much for your contribution. Go to survey
