Primary health clinicians play a key role in assessing and effectively managing a range of wound presentations.

The Wound Care Workshop for Primary Health provides clinicians with an evidence-based framework to assess and manage a variety of wounds while understanding the importance of client centred education and care.

Learning outcomes:

• assess, manage and apply various wound management techniques to a broad range of clients in the primary healthcare setting
• demonstrate knowledge of various wound management products and materials and the techniques to apply the appropriate product
• obtain a compliant wound swab culture using best practice methods
• apply a broad knowledge of management strategies, client-centred education and provision of basic care and advice about wound management
• assess the need for and perform wound management in various settings and educate and assist clients in managing their wounds.
