Dementia-Related Agitation
UniSC Clinical Trials
Researchers will assess whether administration of the investigational potential treatment reduces agitation compared to a placebo.
We are seeking applications from people who:
- are between 50 and 90 years of age (inclusive)
- weigh at least 45 kg
- have been diagnosed with dementia and experience significant agitation two or more times per week on average
- live at home
- have a consenting caregiver/study partner who is available to attend all study visits in person, and is willing and capable of providing accurate information in relation to the participant’s behavioural symptoms and daily diary completion
- have no history of distressing psychotic symptoms that required psychiatric hospitalisation
- do not have had a clinically significant medical condition within the past 4 weeks
- have not had a stroke within the past year or any malignancy within the past 5 years
- can attend up to 5 clinic visits and one phone call at our clinic in Birtinya on the Sunshine Coast over approximately 10 weeks.
Eligible participants and their carer will be reimbursed for their time on the trial.
This trial has been reviewed by an independent Human Research Ethics Committee.
